Spill the Beans started as a tin of beans I saw when picking up my daughter from school. It was rather disgusting — spilled at the base of a tree in a car park where children were being collected, and it looked a bit off. Because of that revulsion, I thought someone should clear it up. I react to my strong feelings towards things, so I took a photograph of it, thinking it was disgusting. When I got home, it probably looked slightly pretty. So I decided to turn it into something pretty. And that's what I did.
About the frames: my frames are mostly second-hand, rescued from charity shops and sometimes the rubbish pile. Small scratches, scuffs, fading and light damage are intentional: a nod to the past, and to the millions of images people have chosen to display in their homes to communicate who they are. The recycling may show. That's part of what makes each piece an original, and part of the story. Small print
