Short version: I don't sell your data and I don't track you.

Who I am

This site is run by me, David Gardiner, trading as Sachan, in Jersey, Channel Islands. For data protection law I'm the controller of your personal data. Email me at sachanarts@gmail.com. I'm registered with the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner (JOIC), registration number 104202.

What I collect and why

The legal reasons: answering you is my legitimate interest; sale details are needed to carry out our contract; and keeping sales records is a legal obligation. I won't put you on a mailing list unless you ask to be on one.

How long I keep it

General emails: up to 2 years after we last talked, then I delete them. Sale and delivery records: I keep details of sales for ten years for Jersey tax purposes.

Who else sees it

Only the people who need to: my email provider (Google, for Gmail), my payment providers (SumUp and PayPal), and the courier or post office delivering your parcel. Some of these store data outside Jersey, e.g. in the UK, EU or USA. The UK and EU are recognised as giving data the same level of protection as Jersey. Where data goes further afield, such as to the USA, Google, SumUp and PayPal use legal safeguards like standard data protection contract clauses to keep it protected. They're responsible for your data under their own policies. SumUp and PayPal handle your payment details under their own privacy policies: SumUp privacy policy and PayPal privacy policy. I don't sell or swap your data with anyone.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 you can ask me to: show you what I hold about you; correct it; delete it; stop or limit using it; hand it over in a usable format; and you can object to how I use it. Email me and I'll answer within four weeks, free.

If you're not happy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner (JOIC), 5 Castle Street, St Helier, Jersey JE2 3BT, jerseyoic.org. I'd rather you told me first so I can put it right.

Cookies

This site doesn't use analytics, advertising pixels, social media trackers or any other non-essential cookies. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel. That's why there's no cookie banner. If that ever changes, I'll ask you first and update this page. The fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google to fetch them, which shares your IP address with Google.
